D-SC openers go poorly for county boys' hoop teams

The first game of the Dunn-St. Croix Conference prep boys' basketball schedule did not go well for two Pierce County teams.

Plum City lost at Boyceville 39-27 while Elmwood was crushed by Elk Mound 68-20.

Elmwood fell behind the Mounders at home 22-4 in the first half and 39-7 at halftime. Noah Wells led the Raiders in scoring with 10 points.

PC played competitively at Boyceville, leading 4-2 after the first quarter and only trailing 19-17 at halftime. But the Bulldogs outscored the Blue Devils 20-10 in the second half.

Austin Coss had seven points to lead Plum City in scoring.

Both county teams are 0-2 overall after the first week of the regular season.
