The Ellsworth High School boys' basketball suffered its first Middle Border Conference loss of the season Thursday 70-67 at Somerset

This allowed Prescott to claim first place in the MBC all by its lonesome. The Cardinals won at home Thursday 54-43 over Durand to be 5-0 in league play. Both Ellsworth and Somerset are 4-1.

Mike Brookshaw's 17 points and Clay Seifert's 13 lifted PHS to the win over the Panthers. Prescott led at halftime 30-20 and held on from there. The Cards' improve to 10-2 overall.

Ellsworth was outscored 23-13 by the Spartans in the third quarter but outscored Somerset 27-19 in the fourth. However the rally fell short. Will Huppert had his best game of the season so far with 23 points. Chrystian Kulow and Kyle Murphy each scored 11 points. The Panthers have dropped two straight games and are now at .500 at 4-4.

Prescott will be at New Richmond next Tuesday while Ellsworth hosts Osceola.
