AMERY - The No. 1 ranked Ellsworth High School's wrestling team kept its Middle Border Conference dual meet winning streaks in tact Thursday evening with a 33-29 win over No. 5 Amery.

EHS's Brock Steldt won the key match of the dual at 195 pounds, edging the Warriors' Broden Schock 2-1. Steldt scored a double-leg takedown with under :24 seconds to go in the match while trailing 1-0. Although the Panthers lost the final two matches of the dual meet, Amery needed two pins to win and did not get them.

Ellsworth trailed 16-0 before notching its first win on Jens Lantz's :59 second pinfall of Joe Gates at 126. Other EHS winners through the line-up were Brad Cain by pin at 138, Tristan Mueller by decision at 145, Gabe Frandsen by pinfall at 160, Logan Kemmerer by decision at 170 and Dennis Schutz by forfeit at 182. Kemmerer's win put EHS in front for the first time in the meet at 24-22.

Ellsworth improves to 15-3 overall, 6-0 in the MBC. The Panthers closes its regular season schedule Monday in a rescheduled dual meet vs. Durand at Ellsworth beginning at 7 p.m.
