Race gets tighter in MBC for boys' hoops title

The campaign for the Middle Border Conference 2014 prep boys' basketball title just went into very interesting mode Tuesday.

Somerset handed Prescott its first loss in MBC action 58-40 at Somerset.

PHS drops to 10-1 in the conference while the Spartans improve to 8-1. The Cardinals are 15-3 overall and Spartans are 12-2.

Meanwhile, Ellsworth makes it a three-man race after the Panthers topped rival Durand 66-52 at home. Chrystian Kulow had a season-high 28 points to lead EHS while Will Hupert put in 13 points.

EHS is 8-2 in the league and 9-5 overall.  All three team control their own destiny in league play.

Ellsworth and Prescott will clash next Tuesday in Prescott and the Purple hosts Somerset on St. Valentine's Day.

Ellsworth is also in action this week Thursday as it hosts Osceola in a rescheduled contest.
