PRESCOTT - Winning their third straight contest was the Prescott High School girls basketball team and they did so Tuesday against Highway 10 rival Ellsworth by a 46-33 score.

PHS built a 28-17 halftime advantage and pushed to a 19-point spread in the third quarter with tough defense on the press and scoring inside from center Elle Boles and from point guard Katy Syverson. Boles finished 12 points and Syverson had 14 points.  The final score was the closest EHS cut into the lead in the second half.

Prescott also was perfect at the free-throw line at 6-for-6 while Ellsworth struggled going 6-for-15.

Kelsey Betthauser and Tacia Kuhl both scored eight points for the Panthers, who drop to 1-12 overall and 0-9 in the MBC.

The Cardinals improve to 4-6 in the league and are within one game of .500 at 7-8. They'll look to reach that level and beyond this weekend when they host Hastings on Thursday and Somerset on Friday.
