SVE wrestlers edged out again at Jamboree

RIVER FALLS - The No. 1 ranked Spring Valley/Elmwood wrestling team finished runner-up again at the Big River Conference/Dunn-St. Croix Conference Wrestling Jamboree Saturday.

No. 6 ranked Menomonie scored 255 points to SV/Elmwood's 241 with No. 10 and defending champion Hudson placing third with 212. No. 5 Boyceville scored 146, Rice Lake had 124 and River Falls scored 119.

Three SVE wrestlers won first place in the meet. Tyler Berg took first at 126 pounds, Trent Miller at 160 and Ethan Hofacker at 195.

Placing second for SVE were Derek Huebel at 113; Cruze Hulburt at 120, losing his first match of the season 4-3 to Justin Peterson of Eau Claire North and Zach Newton at 145. Jed Schlegel placed fourth at 152.

Winning titles for Hudson were Sawyer Massie at 145 and Mathias Tobin at heavyweight. River Falls's champion was Sebastian Larson at 182. 

Spring Valley/Elmwood will host a WIAA Division 3 regional meet at Spring Valley Saturday. Hudson and River Falls will compete in the Division 1 regional at Chippewa Falls.
