PIERCE COUNTY PREP BASKETBALL ROUND-UP: Streaks continue for SV, Ellsworth boys

Two streaks continued for the Spring Valley and Ellsworth high school boys' basketball teams on Tuesday.

Spring Valley won its fifth in a row, dispatching St. Croix Central 56-37 at home while Ellsworth lost its third in a row, 60-46 at Osceola.

Led by 15 points from Jake Helmer, 11 from Ben Becker  and 10 from Zac Webster, Valley concluded it's Dunn-St. Croix Conference schedule with a 11-5 record, 16-5 overall. 

Ellsworth was outscored 21-9 in the third quarter by the Chieftains after trailinbg 31-26 at halftime. Chrystian Kulow was the only Ellsworth player in double figures with 18 points. It's the Panthers third loss in a row to conclude the regular season at 11-8 overall, 9-5 in the Middle Border Conference.

In other boys hoops' action from Tuesday Elmwood was outscored 21-0 in the first quarter on its way to a 75-50 loss at Glenwood City. Noah Wells led the Raiders in scoring with 15 points and Levi Wolf finbished with 14. Plum City's missed a chnce to snap its long losing streak and fell again 44-41 in Eau Claire.  Alex Boyer led the Blue Devils in scoring with 18 points.

In the lone girls game Tuesday, Elmwood lost a close contest at home to Alma/Pepin 46-41.
