EPC, Ellsworth track teams compete in Blue Devil Open

MENOMONIE - The Ellsworth and Elmwood/Plum City track and field teams took part in Blue Devil Open indoor meet hosted the University of Wisconsin-Stout at Johnson Fieldhouse Tuesday afternoon.

The EPC boys placed ninth out of 22 teams participating thanks to newcomer Levi Wolf's third place in the triple jump. He leap was 40 feet, five inches. Also placing for the Elmwood-PC boys were Andrew Gilles, fourth in the 1600-meter run, Hunter Schoengarth, fifth in the 800-meter run and the Wolves' 1600-meter relay team, eighth. 

EPC's girls finished 12th. Their highest finishes came from Sarah Gilles, third in the 55-meter hurdles in :9.55 seconds and sixth in the 400. Teammate Elaina Danzinger finished fifth in the 800 and EPC's 1600-meter relay team finished seventh.

Ellsworth's boys' team finished 21st with its best finish coming from Brett Freier in the 55-meter hurdles, third in :8.23. The Panther girls finished 19th. Olivia Helmer placed seventh in the triple jump and Joanne Lanegran, seventh in the 200-meter dash.

River Falls won the girls' meet with 83.50 points with Hudson second with 71 points. Hudson won the boys' meet with 86.50 points with River Falls second with 79 points.

EPC will be back in Menomonie this weekend for the Northern Badger Invitational and both teams will be in River Falls for an indooor meet Tuesday.
