Storms wipe out prep schedule, suspend Amery Invitational track meet

Yesterday afternoon's Thunderstorms took out nearly off of the prep sports schedule.

The Amery Invitational track and field meet managed to get half of its events recorded in the scorebook in both the boys' and girls' meets. On the boys' side, Spring Valley's Zac Webster was able to win the triple jump with a season-best leap of 44 feet, six inches. His teammate Tyler O'Keefe finished second in the 400-meter dash in :54.02 seconds. Elmwood/Plum City's Andrew Gilles finished second in the 1600-meter run and teammate Trevor Traynor was third in the this discus. SCC led the truncated meet with 44 points. SV was seventh with 22 points and EPC eighth with 20 points.St. Croix Central was atop the boys' meet standings when the mkeet was called.

In the girls' meet, EPC's 3200-meter relay team finished second in 10:23.79 and EPC's Sarah Gilles won the 100-meter high hurdles in :17.04 seconds. Elmwood/PC was seventh in the team standings with 22 points while Spring Valley was 11th with nine points. St. Croix Falls led the meet with 53 points when the meet was suspended.

The Spring Valley vs. Elmwood/Plum City softball game will be made up Saturday as SV will travel to Elmwood to take part in EPC's Invitational. Ellsworth's boys' tennis meet at Durand will be made up May 16.

Tonight's schedule, weather permitting, has Ellsworth and Prescott track teams competing in the New Richmond Relays; Ellsworth and Prescott boys' golf teams also in New Richmond for an Middle Border Conference meet; No. 8 Prescott at Amery for baseball, No. 1 Ellsworth at Durand in baseball; Prescott softball hosting Prairie Farm in a doubleheader and Colfax at Spring Valley in softball.
