Valley linksters take third in conference meets

SPRING VALLEY - Spring Valley High school’s golf team placed third in a pair of Dunn-St. Croix Conference meets last week.

The Cardinals finished third in its first home meet of the season, shooting a 192 last Tuesday at Spring Valley Golf Course.

Taylor Leach had SVHS’s low score of 41 for nine holes. Jason Richardson was next with a score of 44 followed by Jordan Jensen 53, Mitchell Wittmer 54 and Blake Klatt 67.

Glenwood City took first in this meet with a score of 165 followed by Mondovi 177, Spring Valley 192, St. Croix Central 196, Elk Mound 216, Colfax 243. Mondovi’s Hayden Ford tied with Jake Hierlmeier and Nick Mrdutt for medalist honors with scores of 39.  Leach’s score tied her for fourth place with GC’s Nathan Mrdutt and SCC’s Jonathan Tczap. Richardson finished seventh.

Spring Valley's golf team finished third in a Dunn-St. Croix meet at the Hammond Golf Course with a score of 191 back on May 5. SV's Richardson took third place by shooting a 41. 

GC again won the meet with a score of 171 followed by Mondovi 177, SV 191, Central 196, Elk Mound 219 and Colfax 265.

Leach finished with a score of 46, Jensen shot a 48, Wittmer 56 and Klatt 66. Ford won the meet with a score of 39. Nick Mrdutt was second with a score of 40.

Spring Valley’s home meet on Thursday was postponed due to thunderstorms.  SV competed at Mondovi  Monday, in the Colfax Invitational Thursday and their own home invitational meet Saturday. Next Monday is the D-SC Meet at Mondovi.

The league standings in the final week of the regular season has Glenwood City on top with 36 points followed by Mondovi 29, Spring Valley 23, St. Croix Central 21, Elk Mound 12 and Colfax six points. Hierlmeier leads the individual point standings with 51 followed by Ford at 49, Nathan Mrdutt 45, Nick Mrdutt 44, Tczap 43. Both Richardson and Leach are in the top 10 with Richardson having 27 points and Leach scoring 21 points.
