EHS golfers tie for first at Colfax Invitational, PHS, SV finish in top 10

COLFAX - The Ellsworth High School boys' golf team finished tied for first in the Colfax Inviational played Thursday at Whitetail Golf Course.

However, the Panthers were unable to successfully defend their meet title from last season as Somerset edged them in a one-hole playoff. Both teams finished with 18-hole scores of 327.

The meet was originally scheduled for mid-April but moved back to yesterday due to bad weather.

Glenwood City's Jake Hierlmeier won meet medalist honors with a score of 78. Ellsworth's Emery Whalen and Bryce Stein both shot 79s to tie for second. 

Prescott had a solid showing in the meet, finishing sixth in the 16-team field with a score of 366.  Tate Nahorniak had PHS's best score with an 88.

Spring Valley was eighth with a score of 372.   Valley also manged to get in their regularly scheduled Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet in at Colfax. The Cardinals finished third with a score of 186 with Taylor Leach's score of 43 leading them. She tied for fifth individually.  SV's Jason Richardson was ninth with a score of 46.

Spring Valley will host its own invitational meet Saturday at the Spring Valley Golf Course beginning at 9:30 a.m. This will also be a D-SC meet as well. Also competing are Ellsworth, Baldwin-Woodville and Clear Lake.

Ellsworth has its MBC home meet Monday starting at 4:30 at the Ellsworth Country Club. Also on Monday is the 18-hole official D-SC Meet being played at Valley Golf Course in Mondovi. The 18-hole MBC Meet takes place on Tuesday at Bristol Ridge in Somerset.
