Spring Valley finishes fourth in D-SC meet
HAMMOND - Spring Valley High School's golf team finished fourth in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference Meet held at Pheasant Hills Golf Course.
The Cardinals shot an 18-hole 365, which put them three strokes behind St. Croix Central's 362. Glenwood City won the meet with a score of 325 and Mondovi was second with a score of 344.
This put Spring Valley third overall in the D-SC standings. Glenwood City won its third straight league title with 60 points while Mondovi had 49 points and SV 37 points.
Valley's Jason Richardson finished third individually with a season-best score of 79. Glenwood City's Nick Mrdutt won the meet medalist honor with a score of 76. Teammate Jake Hielrmeier finished second with a 77 which helped him win the individual D-SC title with 87. points. He also made first team all-conference. Richardson's strong play Thursday pushed him onto the second team All D-SC for the season with 49 points. Teammate Taylor Leach also made second team All D-SC thanks to the 88 she shot at the conference meet Thursday which was good for a top 10 finish.
SV's Jordan Jensen received honorable mention. The top five golfers in the individual point standings make the first team, the next five the second team and next five receive honorable mention.
Spring Valley's next competition is in Luck on Tuesday in the WIAA Division 3 Unity Regional. The top four teams qualify for the sectional meet the following Tuesday in Chippewa Falls.
