PIERCE COUNTY PREP SCOREBOARD: EPC softball advances in regional playoffs

Elmwood/Plum City's softball team wil move onto the semifinals of their WIAA Division 4 regional tournament after shutting out Prairie Farm Thursday 8-0 in Elmwood.

Winning pitcher Shelby Hall tossed a three-hitter and struck out seven batters. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, triple and two RBis. Teammate Alysha Hoyt hit a double and drove in two runs.

EPC will take on Boyceville Tuesday at Elmwood. The Wolves swept the Bulldogs in a rescheduled doubleheader on Wednesday.

The other semifinal in the regio nal pits Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran against Glenwood City. GC eliminated Spring Valley by a 17-9 score Thursday in Spring Valley. The Cardinals led 5-2 in the early innings but the Hilltoppers outscored them 15-2 from the third inning on. GC had 19 hits and SV had four errors. Tana O'Keefe led the Cardinals with three hits.

Prescott's softball team will be at home next Tuesday to face Bloomer in a Division3 regional semifinal. The Blackhawk shutout Colfax 5-0 Thursday in the first round.

In prep baseball scores from Thursday:

Spring Valley beat Alma/Pepin 10-2. The Cardinals clinched a share of the Dunn-St. Croix Small Division title and can win it outright with a win at Plum City this afternoon.

St. Croix Central shutout Plum City 10-0

Elmwood split a doubleheader against Glenwood City, losing game one 9-8 but winning the second game 24-5.  EHS shut out Clear Lake 8-0 back on Tuesday.
