SV golfers qualify for sectional meet

LUCK - The Spring Valley High School golf team will advance through regionals to sectionals for the second season in a row. 

The Cardinals placed fourth in the WIAA Division 3 Unity Regional to move on to the sectional meet at Lake Wissota Golf Course in Chippewa Falls next Tuesday. McDonell High School is the host.

Glenwood City won the regional title with a score of 335 and also finishing in the top four were Grantsburg 355, Unity 380 and then Spring Valley 410.  Other team scores were Clear Lake 430, Luck/Frederic 448, Siren 462, Turtle Lake/Clayton 490 and Colfax 516.

Taylor Leach had SV's best individual score as she shot a 93 to finish tied for ninth. GC's Nick Mrdutt won meet medalist honors with an 18-hole score of 77. Jordan Knutson of Grantsburg was second with a score of 80 and Glenwood's Jake Hierlmeier finished with an 83. 

Other Valley scores were Jason Richardson 98, Jordan Jensen 103; Mitchell Wittmer 116 and Blake Katt 140.

Top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team move on to the sectional meet. Those individuals include Andrew Colbeth of Clear Lake, Ben Anderson of Turtle Lake/Clayton, Trevor Stetson of Colfax and Jade Merrill of Siren. Their scores were 91, 95, 96 and 103 respectively.
