Prep football practice starts Tuesday, sports season begins

Tuesday is the start of the high school sports season for the 2014-15 school year with the first day of football practice.

Pierce County prep football teams: Ellsworth, Elmwood/Plum City, Prescott and Spring Valley will have two weeks of practice to get ready before their first games on Aug. 22.  On that day, Ellsworth will be at Spooner, EPC will host Frederic, Spring Valley will be at home against Unity and Prescott will host Barron.

The week before, county will be involved in controlled scrimmages. Ellsworth will be in Osseo (along with Glenwood City, Osseo-Fairchild and Arcadia), Spring Valley will be at Clayton, Prescott at St. Croix Central (along with Osceola and Bloomer) while EPC will host a scrimmage at Elmwood along with Alma/Pepin, Brookwood and Blair-Taylor high schools. The scrimmage will begin at 4:30 p.m.

On Aug. 11 will be the first day of practice for girls golf and girls tennis and Aug. 19 will be the first day of practice for volleyball and prep cross country.

Girls golf begins its season Aug. 15 with the Barron Scramble.
