From a single creek, Ellsworth area couple's conservation efforts have flowed

It started with a project to do conservation work on Trimbelle Creek.

From there, Ralph and Kathryn Schommer went on to participate in stream improvements throughout the county. Eventually, Ralph Schommer took their environmental quest statewide by being elected to the Wisconsin Conservation Congress.

This Saturday, the couple will be among the honorees at the Pierce County Land Conservation Department's and Ellsworth Lions Club's annual banquet, having been named this year's Outstanding Conservationists.

"Mostly, it's been involvement through the Trimbelle Rod and Gun Club and the Conservation Congress," Schommer said Tuesday.
