Students in Adam Nirmaier’s art class at Ellsworth High School painted model cows to be sold at the annual Pierce County Dairy Breakfast Saturday. The cows were left over from the Cow Parade held in the county in 2006. They will be part of a fundraiser, with proceeds going to the Hunger Prevention Council to buy milk. Oak Grove Farm in the town of Kinnickinnic outside of River Falls is home to a herd of miniature fainting goats, such as this 5-week old baby. Goat breeder Ali Egan said fainting goats are also known as myotonic goats. The genetic disorder, called myotonia congenita, causes goats to stiffen and fall when startled.
