An Ellsworth Community School District bus was stopped on Highway 35 Friday, April 7 attempting to load students when it was rear ended by a minivan. The driver of the minivan was seriously injured and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. The school bus contained seven occupants along with two students beginning to load. This  shows where the Bay City village trail that would go through David Meixner’s land. The area on the peninsula, which would be the largest part of the trail, was under water eight different times this year, Meixner said. “When the river stage reaches 7.5 feet the peninsula starts to flood in several places. Flood stage for Bay City is 14 feet. It is not uncommon for the peninsula to be totally under water in the spring and during heavy rain events,” Meixner said. (Photo courtesy of David Meixner)
