Jim Foster of River Falls, maker of toy wooden cars, holds a 1930 Model A sedan he built recently. The car happens to be the same as the first real car Foster bought used in 1939 as a 16-year-old old in Mankato, Minn., for $49. "I had that car all through high school," he said. Several had lines incorporating the "b-a-a" sound of the animals they portrayed while telling the story of Jesus' birth. An audience filled around two-thirds of the church pews for Wednesday's rehearsal.
