SSG Corporation, founded and owned by local businessman Burt Nordstrand, has been sold to CrossAmerica Partners, a leading wholesale distributor of motor fuels and real estate used in the retail distribution of motor fuels. CrossAmerica GP LLC, is a wholly owned subsidiary of CST Brands, Inc., one of the largest independent retailers of motor fuels and convenience merchandise in North America. It is also the same company that purchased Hudson-based Erickson Oil (Freedom) in early 2015.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department reported that a hunter located a human skull in the woods at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 9) near the 2200 block of 70th Ave. in the town of Baldwin. Upon arrival, the deputies were shown to a wooded area and located a skull and other remains of a person. The area was just south of the Union Pacific railroad tracks.

Middle School Associate Principal Jim Dalluhn has submitted his resignation effective June 30, pending Board of Education approval. Dalluhn has accepted a middle school principal position with the Prescott School District. He has served 13 years in his current position in the Hudson School District. Members of the St. Croix Bike Coalition told members of the Hudson Rotary Club last week that the organization hopes to develop a bike trail system in western Wisconsin that will connect to the loop trail planned for construction with the new St. Croix River crossing between Houlton and Stillwater.
