The Prescott Public Library will host a kick-off celebration for the Road Trip for Readers fundraiser from 10:30 a.m.-noon this Saturday. Attendees will get to see Greg Lauser’s 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 and learn about the rigors of long-distance travel in a classic car. Bring the kids for some special road trip stories and a photo op with the Austin-Healey.

A former Prescott man pled guilty to battery and disorderly conduct charges Tuesday in Pierce County Circuit Court. Jessy Jordan Holtzkamp, 19, Bloomington, Minn., was sentenced to two years’ probation after pleading guilty to battery, disorderly conduct and battery to an unborn child.

Ray Weitz was the steward for the AFSCME unit of UW-Oshkosh in the late 1980’s when his life changed. Sitting across the table from what he described as an “autocratic” custodial supervisor during labor negotiations, Weitz knew what his next career would be. “What I learned was not how to treat people,” he said.
