One won't see a Pamida store in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Madison or Milwaukee areas. They'll be found in smaller communities in which the retail chain believes it can succeed like Ellsworth which has been on the company's radar screen for awhile. "For several years, we've been looking hard at this community," explained Jim Larson, Vice President of Property Development for Pamida. "... We looked at towns that fit our niche of 2-5,000 people and Ellsworth jumped out at us.
MAIDEN ROCK - For nearly half her life, Cyndee Randall had worked at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts producing and presenting contemporary art exhibitions. While enjoying that line of work, she also wanted to be more involved in another passion of hers - the environment. For that factor and many others led Randall, 52, to launch the Swan Song Contemporary Arts (SSCA) gallery in Maiden Rock. The grand opening is scheduled from 12-6 p.m. this Saturday, to coincide with Maiden Rock's Summerfest weekend.

Norma Taplin initially took a job with the Ellsworth School District so she could see more of her two children, Lori and Jeff, at the time. Taplin has stayed in that position, a secretary for the Junior High/Middle School for the last 40 years, so it's safe to say she grew to like the job. "It was close to home and I hated driving," Taplin explained as her previous job was for 3-M in the Twin Cities.

As a result, the average acre size is three with the biggest being 13. Second, while most developments will have houses that will look the same in structure and design, not here. "We'll have a lot more diversity, different looks in these homes," said co-owner Dan Reiland. "It's encouraged." That falls in line with the third point as Reiland explained.
