While the inclination may be to literally "hit the ground running," when it comes to making healthy choices, experts seem to agree that small changes are the best way to get lasting results. Hudson Hospital registered dietician Jean Weiler has her top suggestions for making changes that can have a healthy and lifelong impact. First up -- eat more fruits and vegetables. "This is harder than it sounds. It seems simple but most of us don't eat enough of either despite the fact that these days we have a wide variety of choices available throughout the year," said Weiler.
A 42-year-old Hudson woman was arrested Friday, April 22 on suspicion of theft from another school parent group. According to the Hudson Police Department and the St. Croix County Jail log, Brenda Lutovsky, 1906 Stone Creek, was released after being arrested and booked on a theft from the Hudson Middle School Parent Advisory Council. She is accused of stealing in excess of $16,000 from the group. According to police, more than $12,000 has been repaid but $3,800 is still outstanding. She faces a second charge involving the fraudulent use of a credit card from a Hudson business.
Authorities are investigating the deaths of a couple found dead in their Vadnais Heights, Minn. home Tuesday morning. Kalen Pohjonen, 21, and his wife, Katherine (Quam)Pohjonen, 19, were formerly from Hudson. Pohjonen was a member of the Hudson High School class of 2007. His wife graduated from HHS in 2009. Ramsey County Sheriff's deputies went to the couple's condominium after a co-worker reported that one of them had not shown up for work and could not be contacted. Investigators got to the residence around 10 a.m., looked through a window and found the couple dead inside.
A 22-year-old Menomonie man was seriously injured when he was thrown from his vehicle as it rolled over on I94 eastbound at exit 2 around 5 a.m. Tuesday. Daniel Melstrom was transported from the scene of the accident to Regions Hospital in St. Paul where he was listed in serious condition Tuesday afternoon. A Hudson police officer was the first on the scene around 5:13 a.m. followed by Wisconsin State Patrol. The State Patrol is investigating the accident and is working with HPD to determine the cause of the crash.
