Louis Evans, 64, of Bay City died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009. He was born May 25, 1945 to Kenneth and Bonnie Evans. He grew up in Hastings, Minn. He owned and operated Mr. Louie's Hair Design in Rosemount, Minn., and Lakeville and also owned Mr. Upholster. For a short time he lived in Lake City on a hobby farm and began working with Anderson House Tour Groups.
Karla J. Colegrove, age 45 of Maiden Rock died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at the River Falls Area Hospital. Karla was born the daughter of LaVerne and Marilyn (Bottolfson) Klingensmith on Oct. 8, 1963 in River Falls. She was confirmed by Pastor Wally Mylander at Bethel Covenant Church and attended Sunday school at Bethlehem Lutheran and Bethel Covenant Church. She graduated from Ellsworth High School with the class of 1982. Karla was employed by Hiawatha National Bank for 19 years.
Dorothy Mary Peterson, age 83, of River Falls, formerly of Prescott, died Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the Kinnic Long Term Care, River Falls. Dorothy was born on Feb. 16, 1926 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Wisniewski) Szaflarski. She worked for H.D.
Gordon H. Rothe, age 82 of Elmwood, passed away Aug. 18, 2009 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand from heart disease. Gordon was born on June 25, 1927 in St. Paul. He was the son of Gustav and Elvera (Schultz) Rothe. He lived with his family in Millville, Minn., Ellsworth, Maiden Rock and finally settled in Waverly to farm. Gordon was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plum City for 65 years. During that time he was very active, serving on many boards. Gordon married Harriet Johnson on April 14, 1956 in Maiden Rock and they had 53 great years together.
John M. Thibault lost his battle with cancer on Aug. 14, 2009 at 9:27 p.m. at Olmstead Medical Center in Rochester, Minn. at the age of 42. John was born on Jan. 18, 1967 in Minneapolis, the youngest of five children born to Frank and May Thibault. John attended school in Ellsworth. He was very active in the Pentecostal church. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1987 and he served our country with great honor during Operation Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1991.
Florence Elizabeth Carlberg, age 91, formally of Boyceville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Anoka Care Center, Anoka, Minn. She was born in El Paso, Wis., Aug. 5, 1918, to Harry Philo and Echo Edith (Borchert) Sanford. Florence married Howard Carlberg in 1971. Florence enjoyed writing poetry and singing. She worked as manager and cashier at Cantan Garden's in New Jersey. She also worked as a seamstress at R.F. Lang, River Falls. Florence is survived by her brother Kenneth R.
Loretta I. Potter, 49, of Altoona, formerly of Cumberland, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. She was born November 26, 1959, in Cumberland, Wis., to Harry and Esther (Hart) Littlepipe. Loretta graduated from high school in Utah. She was married in Cumberland on Sept. 10, 1988, to Joseph Potter. She is survived by her ex-husband, Joe Potter, Sr. of Spring Valley, Wis.; four children, Petter Cupp of Spring Valley, Nathan Viellieux of Cumberland, Joseph V.
Lois Von Holtum, age 78 of Plum City, died Thursday, August 13, 2009, at the River Falls Area Hospital in River Falls from lung cancer. Lois was born August 24, 1930, in Rock Valley, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and May Evaline (Egglund) Skelly. She grew up in Canton, S.D. After graduating from nursing school, she was employed with the American Red Cross for one year then worked on the Polio ward during the Polio epidemic. She worked for the Indian Service and traveled throughout the United States. Lois married Lawrence Von Holtum in 1954 and they moved to Plum City. Lois worked at the
Juli Lynnay Knegendorf passed away peacefully August 12, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Juli Osborne was born June 12, 1962, to Gordon and Donna (James) Osborne in Spooner, Wis. Juli lived in the Cameron area through 8th grade. She moved with her family to Menomonie in 1976, and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1980. Juli married Donald Knegendorf on June 14, 1980. In 1985, they took up a residence in Baldwin, where they raised their family for the next 19 years. Five years ago, they bought a small house near Bruce, Wis. Juli worked many years at the Hammond Nursing Home.
