Kathleen P. (Breunig) Scholz, age 88, of Plum City, passed away May 31, 2009, at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City. Kathleen was born on Oct. 1, 1920, the daughter of Jacob and Ida (Fritz) Breunig of Durand. She grew up in the "little stone house" on 4th Ave W. in Durand and graduated from the Durand High School in 1938. On April 12, 1939, Kathleen married Edward Scholz at St. John's Catholic Church in Plum City. For most of their working life, they owned and operated a milk hauling business, supplying milk to the Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery.
Ruth Hajek Cobb, 73, of Chatham, Ill., passed away on May 23, 2009, at St. John's Hospice. She was born in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Anthony and Signe Olson Hajek.
Anthony P. Freiheit, age 19, of Prescott, passed away after a motorcycle accident on Saturday, May 23, 2009. He was born on Oct. 14, 1989, to Stacy Peterson in Owatonna, Minn. On Sept. 11, 2001, Anthony was adopted by Scott Freiheit. Anthony graduated from Prescott High School in 2008. He loved snowmobiling, cooking, and his motorcycle. He also enjoyed Xbox Live and Guitar Hero.
Vivian Isabelle Kopp, age 90, of Plum City, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Plum City Health Care Center. She was born Sept.
William "Bill" F. Holst, Jr., age 85, of Prescott, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at his home. Bill was born on Dec. 3, 1923, in Goodhue County, to William and Margaret (Zigengo) Holst, Sr. He served in the US Marine Corp. during WWII as an MP. Bill married Helen McKinley on Sept.
Beverly Fay (Coburn) Hoffman, 82, of Arkansaw, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Memorial services 11 a.m. Friday, May 29 at the Arkansaw United Methodist Church. Harley G. Christenson, age 90, of Ellsworth, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Fairview Red Wing Hospital, Red Wing, Minn. Harley was born on March 13, 1919, in Ellsworth, the son of Martin and Gunda (Halverson) Christenson. He served in the U. S Army, with distinction during WWII, serving in Asiatic-Pacific Theater, receiving a Purple Heart in the line of duty and a Bronze Star. Harley married Myrtle Hanson on Sept.
Patsy "Pat" Anderson, 77, of Wilson died suddenly on Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Baldwin Area Medical Center, Baldwin. Harry John Jacobson, 76, of Red Wing, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at his home in Red Wing. He was born April 30, 1933, to Harold and Elsie (Forsberg) Jacobson. He married Margaret Mathews on July 18, 1953. He worked at Red Wing Shoe Company for 45 years and Joe's Mobil for 34 years. Margaret died on July 24, 2003. He was a 56 year member of First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Red Wing Elks BPOE #845, a charter member of the Red Wing Credit Union, and he helped organize the Indian Head Motorcycle Club in 1954.
