Friends and family of the Nick and Colleen Jahnke family of River Falls are holding fundraisers to help send the family on a Florida vacation. Honor Flight is a documentary about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the trip of a lifetime. Volunteers race against the clock to fly thousands of World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the memorial constructed for them in 2005, nearly 60 years after their epic struggle. The trips are called "Honor Flights" and for the veterans, who are in their late 80s and early 90s. It's often the first time they've been thanked and the last trip of their lives. The 24-hour journey is full of surprises that deeply move all who are involved.
Rush River Lutheran Church, N8623 County Road Y, is hosting a youth mission trip fundraising breakfast from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 3. The breakfast which will be served immediately after church includes: scrambled eggs, biscuits/sausage gravy, fresh fruit, milk, juice and coffee. Organist Charles Bonow will present his festival worship service concert, 'Our Life in Christ,' at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 545 Apollo Rd., at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 3. Bonow, a former pastor of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, travels extensively presenting his service concerts in the churches of the WELS throughout the country. The service concert will consist of a spoken message entwined with organ solos and congregational singing of well-loved hymns of faith.

She will speak about how her life went from budding actress to struggling quadriplegic with just one step. Her story After showcasing her talent as the lead in the Ellsworth High School's production of Grease, Tasha began to dream of a career in the theater.
NEW RICHMOND -- The Old Gem Theater is presenting the World War II play, "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 and Friday, March 1, 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3. During World War II, the Gestapo used Terezín, as a ghetto for concentrating European Jews. Fifteen thousand children under the age of fifteen passed through the Terezin but fewer than 100 survived. "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" is based on poems and pictures that were created by the children of Terezin.
The collaborative book, Fundamentally Female, written by Reneé Rongen and contributors, is heading to the 2013 Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 24. The book will be featured in the swag bags of each of the female Oscar nominees.
