St. Croix County's agricultural agent, Lee Milligan, 55, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10. Milligan had been in Sacred Heart Hospital since Jan. 1 following an appendectomy and then twisted bowel surgery. According to an Extension email, Milligan took a turn for the worse over the weekend and died Sunday evening. Milligan, a Baldwin resident, is survived by his wife, Debra and daughters, Kari and Krista. Funeral arrangements are with OConnell Funeral Home in Baldwin. A celebration of life will be Friday, Jan. 15, at Faith Community Church, 777 Carmichael Road, Hudson.
Robert "Bob" Baldwin, a former River Falls businessman, died Nov. 15 in Chicago at the age of 62. Baldwin and his wife, Marilynne Felderman, started MFB Corporation in River Falls in the early 1980s. He wrote subscription management and billing software for weekly newspapers.
Harry "Duke" Deal, 73, died Wednesday, Sept 23, 2009. Duke was born on March 19, 1936, in River Falls to Harry and Phila Deal. He attended first through 12th grades in River Falls Public Schools. Duke married Kathleen "Peggy" Leonard on Feb. 4, 1955. Along with his wife, Duke owned and operated Pearson Florist in River Falls for over 40 years. He was the expert on funeral and table arrangement floral design as well as growing greenhouse crops. Duke grew greenhouse cut flower crops including snap dragons, carnations, chrysanthemums, callas, and feverfew over the years.
Paul R. Cudd, 86, died on Thursday, Aug. 27, at River Falls Area Hospital. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, with Rev. John Henning officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Sunday, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church from 4-8 p.m. and again on Monday one hour prior to the funeral at church. Elva C. Bottolfson Hillebrandt, age 97, of River Falls, Wis., died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at the Kinnic Long Term Care, River Falls. Funeral services for Elva will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, River Falls. Rev. Marcus Birkholz will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mildred Daphine Larrabee, age 92, of Ellsworth, formerly of River Falls, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the Ellsworth Care Center, Ellsworth, Wis. Charles Lee Geister, 70, died on July 18, 2009 at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, after a 23 year battle with heart disease and three week struggle with congestive heart failure. Donald Lee "Doggie" Berg, 78, long-time resident of River Falls, Spanish professor emeritus at UW-River Falls, and "best snare drummer of his generation," died suddenly on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. A founding member of the Hall Brothers Jazz Band and part-owner of the Emporium of Jazz in Mendota, Minn., he was also the catalyst for the Semester Abroad Program to Mexico at UW-River Falls. He is survived by his wife, Mimi Trudeau; sons: Clint (Freya Larson) of Nashville, and Jason (Wa Stella) of Minnetonka, Minn.; two step-sons: Brent Griffin of Burnsville, Minn., and Phillip (Jeanne) Griffin
