A 20-year-old man will spend the rest of his life in prison for strangling a former high school classmate in southeast Wisconsin. Daniel Bartelt of Richfield was sentenced yesterday for the killing of 19-year-old Jessie Blodgett in her bedroom in July of last year. Washington County Circuit Judge Todd Martens refused to set an eligibility date for a supervised release, saying Bartelt is too dangerous to ever be freed. The defendant disagreed and maintained his innocence.
TARRANT COUNTY, Texas -- A hearing to decide if the judge presiding over the Adrian Peterson child abuse case should be removed will now take place next week. The hearing is now set for next Wednesday but will still be held in Tarrant County. The hearing was scheduled after Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon issued a motion to recuse Judge Kelly Case. Ligon accuses the judge of calling the attorney's involved in the case "media whores" and colluding with Peterson's lawyer Rusty Hardin.

Kindergarten and first grade students at St. Joseph Parish School in Prescott learned about the local fire department, and what firefighters do and wear during Fire Safety Week. The students learned about the importance of having a safe place at home in case of a fire emergency. Then, the students, with the aid of Fire Chief Bill Dravis, were allowed to explore the fire truck. By Sari Gordon ELMWOOD—Sewer plant matters got attention from the Elmwood Village Board early last week. The plant is seeing significant progress, according to Public Works Director Jamie Reitz. A wet well has been constructed and moisture tests on the concrete were completed. Main slab and walls were done, and with one day lost to rain, the crews poured 121 yards of concrete in one day. A revised resolution authorizing the issuance and sale of $2,820,000 Sewer System Mortgage Revenue Bond and Corresponding Paperwork was approved.
