A Clark County man says he was insane when he tried to “skin (his) dog alive.” Sixty-five-year-old Charles Weissmiller is charged with one felony count of mistreatment of animals. He entered his insanity plea Tuesday as he made a Trempealeau County Court appearance. No trial date has been set. Weissmiller’s dog named Sammy was taken to a veterinary clinic in Owen May 15th. DURAND - An illness outbreak which sickened half the football team at Durand High School has infected other students as well. According to various news reports, at least 54 students at DHS had reported sick Monday. The outbreak forced the cancellation of the resumption of the football game between Durand and Baldwin-Woodville Monday evening (the orginial contest Friday was suspended at halftime due to lightning). DURAND - The remainder of the Durand/Baldwin-Woodville high school football game which was scheduled to finish this evening has been canceled. The decision to cancel the second half of the ballgame (Durand led 10-0 at halftime) was based on the recommendation of the Pepin County Health Department made earlier today. A mother of two boys was killed Saturday night in Milwaukee. Amina Muhammad was one of 11 people shot in a violence weekend for Wisconsin’s largest city. Muhammad was hit by a bullet from a drive-by shooter. Police have reported no arrests in that incident yet. Six people were injured in five shootings during a brief time period Saturday morning. Then, four more shootings were reported Saturday night and early Sunday. At least two of the shootings victims were being robbed at the time.&
