The final weeks of the 2014-15 regular season for Pierce County prep wrestlers are at hand. The Middle Border Conference's final dual meets are on Thursday. No. 2 ranked Ellsworth is at Durand while Prescott is at No. 5 Amery. Both county MBC teams will then gear up for the conference meet which decides the league title on Feb. 7 in Prescott. The No.

Ellsworth, Spring Valley/Elmwood and Prescott's prep wrestling teams were all in action on Saturday in weekend tournaments and meets. Ellsworth placed fourth in the Kasson-Mantorville, Minn. Swalla Duals. No. 2 ranked EHS defeated Centennial 37-28 and Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson 50-18 in its first two duals but lost to the host KoMets, ranked No. 2 in Minnesota Class AA 42-12 and then lost to Prior Lake, ranked No. 8 in Minnesota Class AAA, 31-26 in the third place match. No. 3 Spring Valley/Elmwood won the Shell Lake Duals Challenge.

ELK MOUND - For the sixth time in a row and for the third time in their last four ballgames, the Elmwood/Plum City prep boys basketball team has won and barest of margins. The Wolves downed Elk Mound 50-49 Friday, improving themselves to 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference. EPC rallied from a nine-point deficit in the third quarter to outscore the Mounders 22-12 in the fourth. Nash Gilles scored a season-high 24 points with Alex Boyer finishing with 11 points and Levi Wolf adding 10. EPC plays one game next week, at Frederic on Thursday.
OSCEOLA - The Prescott High School girls basketball team defeated Osceola Thursday evening 45-39. PHS's guards, Mariah Krings and Annie Pryor, are both back from injury and both combined for 18 points (Krings 11 and Pryor seven) to lead the Cardinals in scoring. Olivia Rohl finished with nine points, Jennifer Kleinschmidt scores six points and Jessica Weber came off the bench and chipped in seven points for Prescott. Krings made 4-of-4 from the free-throw line to seal the win, which was Prescott's second in a row.
The Ellsworth High School wrestling team won its final home dual meet of the regular season 69-6 over Pierce County rival Prescott Thursday evening. The No. 2 ranked Panthers had two seniors wrestle in their final home dual meet and both were winners. Adam Walter won by 16-0 technical fall over PHS's Jonah Luksich in 2:26 at 132 pounds and Josh Hines won by technical fall in 5:55 with a 16-0 score over Matthew McNurlin at 160. EHS senior Rhett Borth received a forfeit at 195 pounds as did fellow senior Tyler Beder at 285 officially.

Ellsworth and Prescott renew the Highway 10 West rivalry in wrestling Thursday in Ellsworth. This will be the final home dual meet for the No. 2 ranked Panthers in the regular season. EHS will also host the Division 2 regional meet on Valentine's Day next month. Prescott will host the Middle Border Conefernce meet the week prior. The No. 2 ranked Panthers come into tonight's dual meet, which starts at 7 p.m., off of winning their second Minnesota tournament title. The won the Bluejacket Invitational in Cambridge, Minn., last weekend, downing No. 9 ranked Mora, Minn. to do so.
