PLUM CITY - The 35th edition of Plum City High School's Alumni Band Night took place Friday evening before the Plum City vs. Elk Mound boys basketball game in PCHS gymnasium. Retired PCHS band director Merlyn Aude conducted the mass band of current and former band members before another big crowd in this annual tradition.
PRESCOTT - The Prescott High School girls and boys basketball teams were both victorious Friday evening in games against Somerset. The PHS boys defeated the Spartans 57-45 at home while the girls team won at Somerset 42-35. The win for the Prescott boys keeps them undefeated in the Middle Border Conference at 4-0, tied for first place with Ellsworth (both teams will square off on Jan. 7). The No. 10 ranked Cardinals are 7-2 overall. The PHS girls evened their MBC record at 2-2 after Friday win, 2-3 overall.

PLUM CITY - It was Alumni Band Night at Plum City High School Friday but the music wasn't easy listening for the Blue Devil boys' basketball team. In one of its worst defeats in school history, PC was beaten 79-24 by undefeated and No. 6 ranked Elk Mound. While EM's big 6-7 center Dexter Curry scored 12 points it was guard Zach Doll who did the most damage to the Devils as he scored a game high 27 points. The Mounders made nine-three pointers in the ballgame.
ELMWOOD - A strong defensive effort by the Spring Valley High School boys' basketball team helped the Cardinals win their third game in a row Friday by a 58-21 score over rival Elmwood. Thew tone for the game was set right in the first quarter as SV outscored the Raiders 15-3.
DURAND - A 24-11 third quarter scoring margin proved the difference for the Ellsworth High School boys basketball team, as they defeated Durand 54-44 for their best Middle Border Conference start since the turn of the century. Ellsworth is atop the league standings with a 4-0 record, 4-2 overall. EHS trailed at halftime 23-20. Chrystian Kulow led Ellsworth in scoring with 18 points. For the first the Spring Valley/Elmwood wrestling co-op program has reached the top of the state high school wrestling polls. Both in Crossface Magazine and on Wisconsin Wrestling Online, The Redbird program is ranked No. 1 in Division 3. SVE is 6-0 overall in dual meets ad is fresh off of winning the top pool at the Dells Duals Classic last weekend. PRESCOTT - Eau Claire Regis's prep boys basketball team outscored Prescott 23-12 in the fourth quarter to upset No. 10 ranked Prescott 63-55 at The Nest Tuesday evening. The Cardinals held a slight 43-40 lead in what was a close ballgame from the start until the Ramblers, 5-4 overall, took control of the game around the 5:00 of the fourth quarter. Regis also outscored PHS badly from the free-throw line by a 16-3 margin. Regis's 6-6 junior forward Billy Wampler led all scorers with 19 points.
