Community asked to recognize local businesses during 'Best of' Awards
The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce is asking the public to help recognize the best that the business community has to offer. The 2019 "Best of" Awards kicked off Friday, Jan. 18, with voting taking place on the chamber's website.
"This will be the fourth year of the "Best of" Award program," said Ellsworth Chamber Board President Paul Bauer. "It's a way the community can support their favorite local businesses and recognize them for their contributions and service to their customers. This small effort goes a long way in letting our business community know they are valued."
Each member of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce qualifies for the "Best of" Awards, with voting taking place in eight categories: Best New Business, Best Restaurant/Bar/Tavern, Best Tourism Destination/Attraction, Best Health & Wellness, Best Professional Home Services, Best Professional Services, Best Non-Profit/Civic Group/Religious Organization and Best Customer Service.
Voting will take place in two rounds. First, the community is asked to narrow down the field in each category. The three nominees in each category who receive the most online votes will advance to the final round, at which time the community will once again vote to determine the final award recipients. The winners will be announced at the chamber's annual dinner, which will take place at Kilkarney Hills on Monday, Feb. 18. The award recipients will receive a commemorative poster to display at their business and have bragging rights until the 2020 "Best of" voting takes place next year.
The first round of voting will conclude at midnight on Sunday, Jan. 27. The finalists will then advance to the next round of voting, which will take place from Friday, Feb. 1 through Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019.
