Body recovered March 19, 2019 from Mississippi River near Hager City

Pierce County authorities recovered a body Tuesday, March 19, 2019, on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River backwaters near Hager City.

The body of a woman approximately 40 to 50 years old was removed from the water after a fisherman reported finding it around 12:20 p.m. near Everts Resort in the town of Trenton, Pierce County Sheriff Nancy Hove said. A news release states Pierce County Medical Examiner John Worsing pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The body was transported to Ramsey County in Minnesota for an autopsy and to attempt to identify the woman.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office and the Red Wing Ambulance Service assisted Pierce County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the PCSO.
