The fifth grade class at St. Francis School in Ellsworth spent the fall learning about the challenges many people face trying to earn enough money to feed their families.

After learning how many friends and neighbors the Ellsworth Food Pantry helps each month, the students decided to have a holiday food drive to benefit the program. Through the month of December, St. Francis School together with the Ellsworth High School Dance Team, collected 293 pounds of food and $180 that they personally delivered to the Food Pantry on Dec. 14.
