Morgan Kummer has committed to playing softball as a Colonial after her time as a Panther.
The Ellsworth senior signed her letter of intent to play Division I softball for George Washington University on Thursday, Nov. 9 in front of family, friends and coaches at Ellsworth High School.
"I've been looking forward to this day ever since I made the decision that I wanted to play collegiate softball," Kummer said, "and now that I've signed, it's kind of like a weight lifted off of my shoulders.
"Now I can just go out and play without having to worry about it."
Kummer is looking forward to making the most out of her last year as a Panthers softball player, and "going out with a bang."
For Kummer, that "bang" would be winning the Middle Border Conference and going on to do even better than her team did in the 2017 season.
Kummer's new school is located over 1,000 miles away from Ellsworth in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C.
"I am nervous just because it'll be something different. I've never lived away from home on the East Coast before," Kummer said. "But I think being nervous is a good thing; it means I'm excited for it.
"It'll be new, it'll be different, but it'll all be positive."
