Boys' basketball: All contribute in Ellsworth's 20-point win

The Ellsworth Panthers claimed a 70-50 win over the Ashland Oredockers on Thursday, Jan. 3, and received contributions from all 10 players who entered the game.

Nine of the 10 Ellsworth players who earned playing time on Thursday found their way into the scoring column against the Oredockers (7-3), and all 10 players helped hold their guests to 19-for-74 shooting from the field.

The Panthers (5-3, 3-0) were 27 of 60 from the field themselves and were led in scoring by senior co-captain Logan Benson who finished with 26 points after he shot 10-for-18 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. Benson also recorded 14 rebounds, two blocks and an assist.

Senior co-captain Erik Lange led the way in assists with three dimes, and senior co-captain Cole Woodland recorded two of his team's four steals.

Ashland was led in scoring by Joey Davidson and Kevon Powell who both finished with 11 points.

The Panthers will return to Middle Border Conference play on Tuesday, Jan. 8, when they travel to Somerset to take on the Spartans (4-5, 1-2).
