Golf: Tayson leads Pierce County golfers at New Richmond

Brian Tayson set the bar for Pierce County golfers at New Richmond Links Golf Course on Tuesday, April 16.

The Prescott senior shot a 10-over-par 46 at the nine-hole golf course and met par on hole 7, which he completed in four strokes.

Tayson and his teammates finished the course in 196 total strokes to take sixth place ahead of the Somerset Spartans and the Ellsworth Panthers.

The eighth-place Panthers, who tallied a team score of 232, were led by freshman Carsen Stockwell who finished the course in 54 strokes. Freshmen Ryan Matzek and Reed Olson met par on hole six, but finished with scores of 69 and 56.

The Middle Border golf teams are scheduled to continue their seasons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at Amery Golf Course.
